January 3rd is VERY Special…

Faith/ Family

This beautiful girl has a birthday today.  She makes January 3rd VERY special.  She is a little miracle to our family and a great example of how God works His plan…

My sister-in-law, Sheila, and her family came for Christmas in Oklahoma several years ago.  Soon after, she discovered a strange lump in her breast.  She was only 34 years old (get checked ladies!) On January 3rd, it was confirmed that she had breast cancer.  I don’t have to tell you how hard the next few months were for her and her family with surgeries and chemotherapy and fears and countless prayers.  Sheila’s last chemo treatment was in July of that year.

Sheila and my brother-in-law, Aaron,  had already adopted their son and wanted more children.  How would this be possible?

Nothing is impossible with God.  Luke 1:37

In October of the same year,  my husband was talking to another rancher about some cattle.  The man told my husband that a woman in his church had decided to find adoptive parents for her unborn baby.  (Side Note:  It takes another level of courage to carry a baby and give it a good home—I am forever grateful to the ones who have chosen adoption over abortion.)  The man asked my husband if he knew anyone looking to adopt and they discussed Sheila and Aaron.  Weeks later, introductions were made and the necessary paperwork was put into motion.

One year after discovering the breast cancer—TO THE DAY—on January 3rd,  Kenslee came into the world.  Sheila and the birth mother were together in the delivery room, welcoming this sweet soul.

God can do amazing things—Have faith.

Happy Birthday Kenslee!  We love you!

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord,

Plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

Plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11

I agree…January 3rd is an extremely special day! Parker was born on January 3rd. We received a call the day he was born and became his parents immediately! God is amazing and adoption is truly a gift. So with a heart that clearly understands, I rejoice with and for your precious family!
