Butterflies Galore!
The butterflies were out in full force today!
They were so beautiful opening their delicate wings as they dart in and around the Lantana. (I don’t always have success planting something; but when I do, you can bet I will plant it again next year!)
I couldn’t help but think of my nephew, Wilson. He is a sharp kid who can negotiate a great deal and has a quick sense of humor. He is a swimmer (swimming in the Junior Olympics) and has just finished his requirements to be an Eagle Scout. Yeah, I’m a proud aunt…Good job Wilson!
Wilson’s Eagle Scout project was to install a butterfly garden in the courtyard of his local library in Parkland, Florida. He spent weeks raising money, organizing work days and watching over the caterpillars. These handsome, chubby guys LOVE the milkweed and would have become beautiful Monarch butterflies! But along came Irma….Hurricane Irma. Wilson and his family stored the arbor and birdbath but the plants and caterpillars had to ride out the storm. Thankfully, the damage could be repaired and they are anticipating beautiful butterflies.
The transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly is a process and nature is not to be hurried. Patience, patience, patience.
No matter what stage of life you are in today, enjoy the sunshine.
Malachi 4:2…
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.”
I am determined to enjoy a few moments of sunshine today…and later, if you see me leap in the parking lot of Walmart, just know I am feeling like a fall calf released from the stall!
