Hit the Trail

Would you want to ride a horse?

Beau and I hit the trail today at the Prairie Preserve pasture. He was a real champ carrying me through the low fog and the light mist to check all the cattle. He jumped creeks and crossed rocky patches filled with cactus. He would perk his little fox-like ears to help me search for steers in the tall grasses.

He is becoming more confident hitting his stride to cover miles of territory. I’m learning just how much I trust and appreciate my little bay partner. It’s just him and me out here together. I need him to be sure-footed. hardworking and willing. He’s been all of that and more. We want to do a good job caring for the cattle and it’s a team effort…
